Up in Thompsonville, NY, Local 342 won an election and ratified a five-year contract at Deb-El Foods, Inc.

Fairway's new warehouse will cut truck traffic, what used to be six truck deliveries a day to their store on 74th and Broadway, will now be a mere two truck stops to stock up the store.  DNAinfo has more.

The New York Times has a piece detailing that even New Yorkers who shop regularly at Wal-Mart don't want all the affects a Wal-Mart in NYC would bring. 
“I don’t believe Wal-Mart should be in the city,” Ms. Clark, 29, said. “All the local mom-and-pop stores would lose business. And it’s already congested. I mean, can you just imagine?”  Read more @NYT
In more Wal-Mart taking over the retail world news, they, along with five other companies have bought the fast growing online retail giant in China, 360buy.com.  The investment is reported to be $3.3 billion.

Private Equity Firm Leonard Green is mulling a BJ's Wholesale Club takeover, the NY Post Reports. The New York Times also commented on the possible takeover.
