Breaking News...President Both elected to UFCW International Vice President.


UFCW Local 1500 President Bruce W. Both was elected today August 19, 2008 to the position of United Food and Commercial Workers Union International Vice President today at the 6th Regular Convention of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union in Montreal, Canada.
President Both was elected along with the UFCW International President Joseph P. Hansen and Secretary-Treasurer Anthony Marc Perrone as well as a full slate of International Vice President to a new five year term.
“It is truly an honor to be a Vice President of the UFCW under the leadership of International President Hansen and International Secretary-Treasurer Perrone,” President Both stated. “These are both exciting and challenging times times for the labor movement and both the UFCW and Local 1500 are up for the challenge. We will be successful,” President Both concluded.  
The United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW) represents more than 1.3 million workers, primarily in the retail and meatpacking, food processing and poultry industries. UFCW Local 1500 represents 22,000 workers in the Metropolitan New York area who primarily work in Supermarkets.
  The UFCW protects the rights of workers and strengthens America’s middle class by fighting for health care reform, immigration reform, living wages, retirement security, safe working conditions and the right to unionize so that working men and women and their families can realize the American Dream.
