Wal-Mart attempts to get out of unionization again: Wal-Mart Canada says it will try to appeal a Quebec Labour Board ruling that granted union certification at a store in Gatineau.

Just months after Wal-Mart shut a unionized tire shop in Gatineau, Que., near Ottawa, about 150 employees at another Wal-Mart have won bargaining rights.

Global Domination: Wal-Mart plans to tender a $2.7 billion offer for all of the shares of D&S, Chile's largest supermarket chain.

For eight years, three people allegedly recruited and later forced Vietnamese nationals to work in two York-area nail parlors in a practice decried by the U.S. Attorney's Office as "modern-day slavery."

Wal-Mart Shuts down another Unionized Store...

Wal-Mart Stores Inc., the world's biggest retailer, said it closed a unionized Quebec tire and lubrication shop because of costs tied to the first labor agreement imposed at any of its North American locations.

Citing "an unworkable union contract" that increased costs by more than 30%, Wal-Mart Canada on Thursday closed the Tire Lube Express automotive center at its discount store in Gatineau, Quebec.
